The Rage Mime Story

Some time ago, while watching the final scenes of 28 Weeks Later play out, a curious thought began to form. Beginning with 28 Days Later, the United Kingdom was infected by the Rage Virus. A horrible disease that turns the infected into rampaging, raging, blood spitting, bitting, flesh eating, fast moving Zombie like creatures bent on turning or ingesting their victims.

28 Weeks Later picks up six months after the Rage Virus was inflicted on the population of Great Britain; the US Army in it’s finite wisdom is helping to secure a small area of London. Of course, things go very, very wrong and so as not to give too much away lets just say that the plethora of US Army devised containment strategies fail miserably.

And so the final scene closes on the Eiffel Tower as Persians inflicted with the recently released Rage Virus run about doing what Rage Zombies do best. That’s when it struck me – rabid, rampaging, blood spewing Rage Mimes pantomiming violence at their victims. I laughed at the though, out loud I might add, which was a bit awkward but did not think too much about it – until.

A few weeks later as I drove to work in the that singularity of stupidity that is Monday morning traffic the thought fully formed. How often do I pantomine violence at ‘people’ that seem to exude stupidity in an attempt to leverage some control over them. How often do I role my eyes, or make ‘that face’, or how about good old fashioned hand gestures? As if to give them a virtual shake and say, ‘Hey Man, Wut Da Fuck were you Thinkin?’ Sound familiar – yes, it was true, I realized that I was a Rage Mime! From that moment Rage Mime the Blog was born.
