AI Chopper
Standford computer scientists have developed an autonomous helicopter that learns by watching human beings fly. The result is a helicopter that can fly complex tricks on its own. Don’t panic, Skynet has not achieved consciousness.
In robotics this is dubbed “apprenticeship learning” where robots observe an expert (we humans) then replay the trick for all to be amazed. After which ‘computer scientists’ get cocky and say things like “autonomous” or “artificial intelegence” – well, that’s a bit far fetched, but still very cool.
